LAMP isn’t just a theatre company—it’s a community, a creative home, and, for many of us, a second family. From the first warm welcome to the final curtain call, being part of LAMP is a joyful journey full of laughter, learning, and lifelong friendships.

Because it’s more than just putting on a show.

It’s about discovering new skills and building confidence. It’s about the buzz of rehearsals, the magic of performance week, and the joy of being part of something bigger than yourself. For adults and children alike, theatre offers a chance to grow—on stage, backstage, and beyond.

And most of all, it’s fun. Seriously fun.

So many of our new members say the same thing: “I didn’t expect to feel so at home, so quickly.” LAMP is a place where encouragement flows, friendships form fast, and the spirit of community is alive in every note, every dance step, every applause.

Our children’s company is a fantastic way for young people to gain confidence, make friends, and experience the magic of live theatre. With a supportive atmosphere and plenty of encouragement, our team helps every child shine—no matter their experience level.

We do ask that all children can sing in tune and follow basic movement. Entry is by audition, which takes place every November. Rehearsals begin shortly after, and principal auditions happen around two weeks in—once we’ve had a chance to get to know each other and begin building a strong, supportive company.

From teamwork and timekeeping to planning and performance, our young members learn so much more than songs and steps—they take away skills that last a lifetime.

The Children’s Company performs their annual show in the April school holidays. Auditions for entry into the company are held in November, and rehearsals begin soon after.

Open to everyone aged 16+, our adult company is a welcoming, energetic group of musical theatre lovers.

Ideally, everyone joining should be able to sing in tune and have basic movement ability – though we do accept folk whose primary skill is dance. Entry to the company is either direct or via a relaxed audition, depending on demand that year. These auditions typically take place in April, with rehearsals starting shortly afterwards. Like our children’s company, we spend the first two weeks getting to know each other and developing the group’s skills—before holding auditions for principal roles.

Whether you’ve been treading the boards for years or this is your first foray into musical theatre, there’s a place for you in our ensemble. And while we do stage exciting lead roles, we’re especially keen to welcome those who want to be part of the wider membership—who are excited to be involved, contribute to the group, and become part of the LAMP family.
