2016 Christmas Concert

This years Christmas Conert will be held on Saturday 10th December 2016 in Linlithgow Primary School.

The Christmas Concert has always proved a huge success and this year should be no different as we are inviting the Children's Theatre to perfrom along side their adult company.

We welcome as many of you there as possible.

Look out here for further details.

This well deserved award is due to the inspiration of our production teams, the leadership of the LAMP Committee, the enthusiasm of the many parents and LAMP helpers and mainly the talents of the youngsters on stage. The popularity of this group is evident in the numbers of children eager to join and all agree that rehearsals are fun as well as giving the youngsters a sound introduction to the world of the stage.  The success of LAMP Children’s Theatre is also due in no short part to the contribution of the various talented production teams over the years they have been in existence.  The support of the parents is also invaluable and greatly appreciated.  Helping in many ways - with costumes, set building, ticket sales, and during show week working front of house as well as backstage – all who are involved certainly enjoy themselves.

Formed in 1995, LAMP Children’s Theatre’s first show, The Wizard of Oz, was the start of a phenomenally successful list of shows including the Scottish premiere of Billy Elliot The Musical.  Now, 21 years after the first production of The Wizard of Oz, the children have once again performed a fabulously successful show, Seussical The Musical during April in Linlithgow Academy Theatre.  Aged 9 – 16, young people leaving Children’s Theatre then have the opportunity to join the adult company, and many have.  “Bitten by the bug” some youngsters have also gone on to perform at the Edinburgh Festival, taking part in Captivate Drama’s production – “Les Miserables”.

It is easily seen why LAMP Children’s Theatre- the youngsters – the actors, singers and dancers; the hard working production team; the LAMP adults giving their support and the parents who are always ready to do what is needed – all deserve this award.

The 2016 LAMP production in October is "The Witches of Eastwick".

The story is based around three female protagonists, the 'Witches' Alexandra Spofford, Jane Smart, and Sukie Rougemont. Frustrated and bored by their mundane lives in the town of Eastwick, a shared longing and desire for "all manner of man in one man" comes to life in the form of a charismatic stranger, a devil-like character, Darryl Van Horne. Seducing each of the women in turn Darryl teaches them how to further expand the powers locked within, though their new unorthodox lifestyle scandalizes the town. As these powers become more sinister and events spiral out of control, the women come to realise that Darryl's influence is corrupting everyone he comes into contact with and resolve to use their new-found strength to exile him from their lives.
