2016 Christmas Concert

This years Christmas Conert will be held on Saturday 10th December 2016 in Linlithgow Primary School.

The Christmas Concert has always proved a huge success and this year should be no different as we are inviting the Children's Theatre to perfrom along side their adult company.

We welcome as many of you there as possible.

Look out here for further details.

This well deserved award is due to the inspiration of our production teams, the leadership of the LAMP Committee, the enthusiasm of the many parents and LAMP helpers and mainly the talents of the youngsters on stage. The popularity of this group is evident in the numbers of children eager to join and all agree that rehearsals are fun as well as giving the youngsters a sound introduction to the world of the stage.  The success of LAMP Children’s Theatre is also due in no short part to the contribution of the various talented production teams over the years they have been in existence.  The support of the parents is also invaluable and greatly appreciated.  Helping in many ways - with costumes, set building, ticket sales, and during show week working front of house as well as backstage – all who are involved certainly enjoy themselves.

Formed in 1995, LAMP Children’s Theatre’s first show, The Wizard of Oz, was the start of a phenomenally successful list of shows including the Scottish premiere of Billy Elliot The Musical.  Now, 21 years after the first production of The Wizard of Oz, the children have once again performed a fabulously successful show, Seussical The Musical during April in Linlithgow Academy Theatre.  Aged 9 – 16, young people leaving Children’s Theatre then have the opportunity to join the adult company, and many have.  “Bitten by the bug” some youngsters have also gone on to perform at the Edinburgh Festival, taking part in Captivate Drama’s production – “Les Miserables”.

It is easily seen why LAMP Children’s Theatre- the youngsters – the actors, singers and dancers; the hard working production team; the LAMP adults giving their support and the parents who are always ready to do what is needed – all deserve this award.

The 2016 LAMP production in October is "The Witches of Eastwick".

The story is based around three female protagonists, the 'Witches' Alexandra Spofford, Jane Smart, and Sukie Rougemont. Frustrated and bored by their mundane lives in the town of Eastwick, a shared longing and desire for "all manner of man in one man" comes to life in the form of a charismatic stranger, a devil-like character, Darryl Van Horne. Seducing each of the women in turn Darryl teaches them how to further expand the powers locked within, though their new unorthodox lifestyle scandalizes the town. As these powers become more sinister and events spiral out of control, the women come to realise that Darryl's influence is corrupting everyone he comes into contact with and resolve to use their new-found strength to exile him from their lives.

LAMP Children's Theatre were delighted to have performed "Seussica The Musical" - a musical perfect for the whole family.

Seussical takes us into the world of Dr. Seuss, where we revisit beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and JoJo. The Cat in the Hat guides us into The Jungle of Nool where we see Horton, the kind hearted elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whoville. He meets JoJo, a Who child sent to military school for thinking too many “thinks.”Horton decides he must protect the speck of dust on a nearby clover, while at the same time protecting an abandoned egg left to his care by the lazy Mayzie la Bird. Horton tries to convince the other animals in The Jungle of the existence of the Whos, but he is ridiculed and put on trial for insanity. Only his loyal neighbor,Gertrude McFuzz, never loses faith in him. Eventually, the two fall in love.

Now one of the most widely produced musicals in the country, Seussical weaves a story of friendship, loyalty and love. Despite all odds, Horton and Gertrude band together to save the Whos, free Horton, and restore peace and unity to the Jungle of Nool. Charming Seussical teaches us the power of being unique, and the importance of fighting for your beliefs.

LAMP are delighted to be performing "The Drowsy Chaperone" as our 2015 production, running from Monday 19th to Saturday 24th of October at Linlithgow Academy Theatre.

The curtain rises on a present-day musical theatre fanatic eager to tell you about his favorite Broadway musical — the 1928 musical comedy 'The Drowsy Chaperone'. He’s the ultimate Everyfan and “Drowsy” is his guilty pleasure.

To chase his blues away, the 'Man in the Chair' drops the needle on his favourite LP and as he begins listening to the rare cast recording, the show cleverly and magically blooms to life.

From the crackle of his hi-fi, the uproariously funny musical magically bursts to life on stage, telling the tale of a pampered Broadway starlet who wants to give up show business to get married, her producer who sets out to sabotage the nuptials, her chaperone, the debonair groom, the dizzy chorine, the Latin lover and a pair of gangsters who double as pastry chefs. Man in Chair's infectious love of The Drowsy Chaperone speaks to anyone who has ever been transported by the theatre.
